How it works

  1. Install Xcode

From the Mac App Store, with an iOS runtime. rig finds it on its own.

  2. Pick simulators

Switch on the iPhones you want. rig boots them when they're needed.

  3. Open your site

Every simulator loads it, next to your browsers.

Live, and you can touch it.

Simulators stream live in their tile, with real taps, swipes and the iOS keyboard.Your coding agent can look at them too.

iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 17e in iOS Simulator, live in rig with sanderr.nl in Safari.
  • Real iOS settings

Dark mode, increased contrast, reduced motion and larger text are switched in iOS itself, on every simulator at once, and put back when rig stops.

  • The iOS versions you have

rig lists every simulator and iOS runtime you installed in Xcode, so you can test an older iOS next to the newest.

Questions

Is iOS Simulator the same as a real iPhone?

It runs real Safari on iOS, but on your Mac's chip and screen. Real iPhones on a cable are coming to rig.

Is WebKit in rig the same as Safari?

No. The WebKit tiles are Playwright's WebKit build. Safari on iOS is what you get in iOS Simulator.
